How do I improve my hearing loss at 3000 hz (I hear at 35 db) for my hearing test?
Sara P asked:
For my military application I need to hear at 30db. I hear really well at all other frequencies except 3000 hz where I hear at about 35 - 40 db. It is crucial that I improve my hearing on the next hearing test. Is there any methods to improve my hearing at that one hz? I have been to specialists and they say I don’t have any infections or anything wrong with my ear.

Many times people have what is called a 4K notch in their audiogram. This can be anywhere from 3000Hz to 5000Hz. The reason that people have this problem is due to noise exposure. It damages the hair cells in your cochlea (your inner ear) especially at the area that hears those higher frequencies. There is no way to improve your audiogram because it is testing how your ears function. Therefore, there is no way to “train” your ears to hear that frequency.
